Baseline tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and peripheral inflammatory markers as predictors of response and survival in triple-negative breast cancer: a real-world single-center study
Abstract
The Retrospective study aimed to assess the prognostic significance of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and peripheral inflammatory markers in early-stage triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) patients treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Forty Three patients included, with baseline TILs evaluated on biopsies. Higher baseline TIL levels were significantly associated with higher rates of pathological complete response (pCR). Elevated peripheral inflammatory markers, were correlated with lower pCR rates and poorer event-free survival (EFS). Local tumor immune infiltration may relate to systemic inflammatory status. In multivariate analysis, high TIL levels and low NLR remained independent predictors of favorable outcomes.
